November 26 开心网的媒体作用最近,开心网上的好友转帖数量大量增加,感觉开心网已经成为一个媒体了。一方面是正统媒体入住开心网,发表新鲜的内容,至少《南方周末》、《新浪网》等都入住了;另外一方面,个人不断在转载网络上的各种信息,包括视频、音频、图片、笑话等等,基本上都是那种速效止疼丸,看时一笑,看过忘记。和新浪等新闻门户相比,开心网作为“体”的力度还有些不足,但作为“媒”力量却是很强大。其特点有:1.及时通知 2.和好友动态结合 3.内容经过好友筛选 4.和娱乐相结合 5.有原创 6. 交互性强,可以评论,投票等。 这种形式比RSS+门户更有传播力,但是其内容的局限性,也注定其受众群是有限的。算是一条小尾巴,呵呵。下面是今天看到的转发,属于类似《手机报》最后的“IN语”风格,挺好玩。 November 23 GoToMeeting:现在的网络会议系统很强劲纵贯线终点站 - 弄出些声音吧!周末和LP同去观摩了纵贯线的终点演唱会,这场演唱会之后,纵贯线乐队就会解散,4位高人就会分飞,这实在是一场很有纪念意义的终点,但是正如周华健最后说的那样,终点只不过是另外一个起点。 到场较早,看到虽然不能说全部坐满,但是说有90%的座位有人恐怕不为过。一开场就是纵贯线的新歌,一下子全场的热情都被调动起来,看着大屏幕上出现的4张车票,很有一种回家的感觉。合唱之后,几位老大就按照罗大佑、张震岳、周华健和李宗盛的次序出场。几位牛人的高下、特点都展现无遗。罗大佑曲风有些愤青样,张震岳有些女气,周华健是个美声,而李宗盛真是太高。李宗盛选择了写给辛晓琪的感悟,但是完全按照自己的状态演绎,唱的很有些沧桑,有些回忆,还有些伤感。不得不佩服“小李”的功力,绝非寻常人可比。后来小李又客串鼓手,为张震岳爱的初体验伴奏,看来这些人都是全才。当中小李还邀请他的吉他作坊(位置在豆各庄)的手艺人共唱一曲,几位手艺人并不擅长吉他,变拿着各种趁手的物件打节拍,情景很是感人。 最后四人又再次合唱,谢场后,观众反复要求,四位便“再次现身”,最后献上的是新歌亡命之徒,非常有激情,再次被感动… 几个花絮:1. 前两排有个小伙子一直用摄像机偷录 2.前面有个30岁左右的老姑娘一直在疯狂地喊叫,非常High 3.看演出不能自带饮料真是TM太恶心了! November 15 Windows7.0的兼容性还是有问题,切回XP终于有机会可以安装Windows7.0,挺激动地安装了一个,果然性能不错,启动和停止的速度都非常不错。界面效果、主题方案、色彩都非常酷,绝对比XP强很多。另外安全性也有很大的提高,不是什么程序都可以运行的,只有用户手工指定某程序以管理员身份运行才能够获得更高的权限,大体上就是以前NT4就有的RunAs,不过现在使用更为方便。在提示安装查毒软件的时候,选择了MS的MSE,之前在我的XP上运行很不稳定,在Win7上面倒是还不错。 不过Win7有较大的兼容性问题,首先是界面变化很大,也没有和XP的兼容模式,经常找不到想要的功能,不过这一点时间长了还是可以适应的。更为要紧的有些软件安装不上,包括Cisco的VPN客户端,还有单位的OA,依赖于ActiveX,而在IE8上无法运行。 某些同事为了解决这些问题,就在机器上面安装XP的虚拟机或者做成双启动的配置,感觉较为麻烦,最后还是放弃Win7,回到XP sp3。检查了一下,XP的服务时2008年4月截止的,但是OEM在低端PC的家用版本被延伸到2010年6月30日。 也许升级到Win7是个迟早的事情,现在还是继续用XP吧。
Google to acquire AdMob for $750 million[zz]转自CNET。估计是Admob在试图推进Android平台的移动广告时,增进了和Google的感情,然后被Google搞定,另外,据AdMob分析,Android平台的数据流量已经占据移动数据流量的17%,而iPhone是50%强。这些数据应该是来自于AdMob对发布网站的广告量统计。 中国的移动运营商还在忙于打用户资费价格战的时候,却不知道后院已经失火! AdMob founder Omar Hamoui (Credit: AdMob) AdMob is perhaps best known for serving display ads on iPhones, but it also recently started a business unit focused on ads for Android phones. The start-up would appear to fit well into Google's advertising business model, giving Google a leg up in the still-small but fast-growing world of mobile advertising. "I'm excited because I believe this will be an important moment for everyone involved in producing, consuming, or monetizing engaging products on mobile," wrote AdMob founder and CEO Omar Hamoui in a blog post Monday. "The truth is that the mobile industry has had no shortage of creative energy, amazing products, and talented entrepreneurs. But until now, it has always felt like those of us involved in this space played second fiddle to our online brethren. I believe that time is over." AdMob was founded in 2006. The company runs its Mobile Advertising Network across thousands of Web sites, serving up ads from big names such as Ford and Coca-Cola. It also collects and publishes data on mobile trends gleaned from the traffic it manages. "Despite the tremendous growth in mobile usage and the substantial investment by many businesses in the space, the mobile Web is still in its early stages," wrote Google's Susan Wojcicki, vice president of product management, and Vic Gundotra, vice president of engineering, in Google's own blog post. "We believe that great mobile advertising products can encourage even more growth in the mobile ecosystem. That's what has us excited about this deal." Representatives from Google and AdMob are expected to talk about the deal in greater detail later on Monday. This is a friendly takeover, as both companies have already approved the deal, they said in a press release. It should come as no surprise that Google is back in a buying mood, after several weeks of talk from CEO Eric Schmidt and other company executives about Google's renewed prospects now that the company believes the worst of the advertising recession is past. At $750 million, the acquisition would rank as one of Google's largest deals, trailing DoubleClick at $3.1 billion and YouTube at $1.6 billion but edging out Postini's $625 million selling price. Google's stock was up 1.81 percent to $561 on news of the deal. November 10 上海电信e云的疑问上海电信和EMC属下的Decho合作,不久前推出了e云在线备份服务。上去仔细一看,原来就是Decho的Mozy服务。Mozy服务大约于2006年在国外开始运营,目前据说有几千万用户,我想其原因主要还是有个不错商务模式和技术平台吧,稍微对比下Mozy和e云,发现有些让人不解之处: 1. 价格模式。Mozy和eyun都有2GB的免费空间。Mozy的业务是每月4.95$可以拥有无限量存储;eyun则是10GB空间每月15元,而300GB空间每月40元。 2. eyun的客户端基本上就是Mozy客户端的汉化版本,不过eyun客户端的稳定性很差,在我的XP上面已经死机多次,还有几次蓝屏。不知道是汉化的问题,还是什么意外。鉴于此,估计服务器也是一样的设备。 考虑到除去支付方式和币种不同外,实际上Mozy和eyun是有竞争关系的业务。也许Mozy由于某种政策原因无法进入中国才找电信落地(据说有EMC以产品入股方式参与eyun),而电信目前缺乏云存储技术,欲用eyun打开局面,取得竞争优势。两下就做成了生意:-) 相关信息: November 09 Sina App Engine/SAE有些山寨
SAE不是基于Python、Java或者Ruby,而是选择了目前最为流行的Web脚本PHP - 也是我较为熟悉的语言,心中也是不是冒出要搞个类似系统的念头。还是sina首先做了出来。就我个人而言,为什么GAE没有选择PHP这个如此流行的玩意,而是选择了Python和Java,可能主要原因在于PHP的管理能力不够,或者说想让PHP变得可管理较为困难一些。不知道SAE在PHP应用隔离方面是否有什么好的解决方案。 SAE目前提供了一些开源的组件来支撑应用开发服务,如下(http://wiki.sae.sina.com.cn/doku.php): PHP5 Runtime运行环境 - - - - 基于PHP 5.3.0内核 支持读写分离的分布式数据库服务 - - - - 基于Mysql数据库 分布式文件存储服务 - - - - 基于分布式文件系统 基于Memcache协议的分布式缓存服务 - - - - 基于集群memcache系统 URLFetch远程数据抓取服务 - - - - 基于分布式proxy服务 Cronjob定时任务 - - - - 基于分布式定时器服务 SPP图片处理服务 - - - - 基于分布式高CPU计算服务 其中分布式文件系统、SPP的详情并不为人知晓。MySQL则可能采用了Sharding技术,但是能够存储多大的容量,并没有看到SAE中有明确说明。另外,从这些服务中,我们并没有看到计费服务和用户绑定,这可能就是SAE尚是Alpha版本的原因。 希望SAE能做的更好,挑战一下GAE:-) 相关链接: November 08 IBM DB2 PureScale挑战Oracle Exadata

The program includes reducing the number of its business units from five to three and lowering its procurement costs. The company said it aims to reduce expenses by $733 million annually by the end of 2011 compared with the end of 2009. Additionally, the cuts in procurement costs will be "substantially larger" than other cuts, and are being made to "meet ongoing customer requirements for competitive pricing." That could bring the total cost cuts to nearly $1.46 billion. Nokia Siemens said it may cut 7 percent to 9 percent of its 64,000 employees, and that some countries may see job losses higher or lower than that range. Just as Nokia reshuffled its front office and reorganized its handset business in the wake of its $834 million net loss in the third quarter, it now appears that Nokia Siemens--Nokia's joint venture with Germany's Siemens--is restructuring after a period of weak performance. In the third quarter, NSN's sales slumped 21 percent to $4.16 billion. The company had an operating loss of $1.64 billion in the quarter, compared with an operating loss of $1.48 million in the year-ago quarter. The company's market share also is expected to decline more in 2009 than Nokia and Nokia Siemens had previously anticipated. In addition to the cost cuts, Nokia Siemens said it would streamline its business structure, actions scheduled to go into effect Jan. 1. The company plans to reorganize into three business units: business solutions, network systems and global services. Jürgen Walter, currently head of the company's converged core unit, will run business solutions; Marc Rouanne, currently head of the vendor's radio access unit, will run the network systems business; and Ashish Chowdhary, currently the company's services chief, will run the global services business. NSN also said it is open to making acquisitions when "assets are available and the associated purchase price of those assets provides the appropriate value." However, the company restated its previous forecast of nearing break even for the year on an adjusted operating level. The infrastructure vendor had a net loss of around $270 million, wider than its net loss of $59.2 million in the year-ago period. Revenue fell 9.3 percent to to $5.46 billion. The company's carrier unit saw a double-digit decline in revenue. Alcatel-Lucent's stock remained relatively unchanged on the news, sitting at around $4.17 per share in early morning trading. Despite the weak performance, the company maintained its outlook on nearing break even by the end of the year. The company is in the midst of a $1.1 billion cost-cutting program, and Alcatel-Lucent CEO Ben Verwaayen said the vendor had achieved 80 percent of the cuts so far this year. He said he expects the telecom sector to return to single-digit growth in 2010. It appears Alcatel-Lucent won't be alone in its third quarter troubles.
